Done.

I spent much of last week moving into my new office. Not everything is set up quite as I want it just yet but I'm able to function. And it certainly feels good to have more elbow room and to take a fresh stab at getting some of my bottomless supply of clutter tidied up (or tossed out) around here.

I'm in the mood for fresh starts these days. I need to kick the status quo in the ankles. To that end, I'm calling it quits for the Comic Book Heaven blog. I began this little effort to fill the vacuum left by the end of the print version of Comic Book Heaven. What I discovered over the year and a half that I've been doing this was that I didn't enjoy blogging about weird old comics anywhere near as much as I enjoyed the pleasures of creating a tangible printed object about weird old comics. I've felt that for the last few months I've just been going through the motions with less and less "content" about old comics and more and stuff about me.

So what's going to happen to Comic Book Heaven? My heart says I should take another shot at the magazine format or really dream big and do an all-new CBH book. My wallet, however, reminds me that over years of publication CBH never made any money and that I can't afford to spend my time on such efforts. I will probably follow my heart. Eventually. I always do.

In any event, as long as I can keep doing the Comic Book Heaven:LIVE! presentations at WonderCon and Comic-Con International my personal brand of fun with comics won't completely disappear.

Many sincere thanks to everyone who plugged this blog (the first was Mighty Mike Sterling) and to everyone who visited and offered up choice bits of goofy stuff for me to share. I appreciate it all.

Good luck with whatever comes next, Scott!

And, for what it's worth, I really hope it's a return of CBH the magazine!

Scott, I am going to miss your blog, and I echo bill's sentiments, hoping for a return to the print version of CBH. It is understandable if that doesn't happen, though. I want to thank you for creating that magazine and for having this blog to share the craziness, weirdness and, gosh darn it, the fun that comics can provide. If you ever do a print version of CBH & a subscription becomes available, you have one person on that list-- and I wouldn't be suprised if there are many, many more.

Thanks for making me laugh!

Scott, Blogger has been giving me a fit in trying to post this comment, so I apologize if I've been spamming your inbox. I just wanted to say that CBH was an inspiration to me in my funnybook reading and I treasure every issue of it. I hope you find a way to bring it to the masses that pays off. Thank you, and good luck!

Good luck, Scott, and thanks for all the fun. If COMIC BOOK HEAVEN returns in any form, I'll be first in line to buy it. My hardcover copy of FLEE, PUNY HUMANS! is sitting right in front of me even as I type.

Will -- That hardcover remains one of my favoritest things ever. I still fondle that baby from time to time and if SLG could swing it, I'd do another one in a heartbeat.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments.

scott, btw, feel free to send me anything you might want to post on my blog http://arflovers.com I don't pretend to compare it with the great stuff you do but I think we DO have some of the same sensibilities and I'd welcome any contributions from you. again good luck and, yes, do more printed matter, please! I agree print is the best. I'd sure be happy to trade you a copy of my new book Arf Museum, I'm getting copies next week, for your Flee Puny Humans book.

Craig - I'm trying to not even look at an old comic book for a long while (I'm afraid I'll start blogging again -- yesterday, I came across a fanzine I did as a kid and thought "hey, this would make a goofy post!" and then had to remind myself that I killed my blog). But hey, trade my old book for your new one? Let's do it!

This is indeed a shame! CBH was a daily stop on my web surfing and will be missed. For what it's worth, I enjoyed hearing what you were up to as much as reading about those crazy old comics. Best of luck in your future projects but I will shed a tear for CBH.

I'm only a fairly recent visitor to this blog and I'm still really very sorry to see it go. I liked the comics talk as well as the personal updates--hey that's why blogs are great!

See ya in the funnybooks!

Like everybody else, Scott, I'm sorry to see this blog go, but I completely understand your reasons. And I'd love to see CBH come back at some point - but only when you're ready, natch.

One quesion: Do you plan to leave this blog up and alive? Even if you're not posting new material, it'd be ashame to let all the good stuff that is here just disappear.

Thanks again for the blog, the book, the zine, all the comics, and the stuff in-between (long live Java Town!)

Gene - I think I'll leave up the blog as long as blogger will allow it or until I need the storage space (there is a lot of art on this here blog) on my server for something else. I may put some "best of" material on my personal website www.scottsaavedra.com if I ever get around to updating that beast. Hey, you liked Java Town? SLG wants to collect the strips from that series and have me add new material. If I can get off my lazy butt and do some new stuff it could happen. We'll see.

You know I started blogging six years ago. I think "When Butlers Go Bad" (i.e. Alfred and Jarvis come out swingin'!) was either the first or second thing I linked to, I forget.

Don't worry about how long the page will stay up. I put something on a Blogger page three years ago and it's still there.

Good luck with whatever's next.
